Because Your Walls Should Make You Smile
If you're staring at a blank wall right now wondering what to do with it here’s my advice: hang something that makes your heart smile. Not something trendy. Not something a designer said is “timeless.” Not something that matches your rug. Something that makes you feel something.
That’s what I believe art is for. That’s why I started creating the kind of photography prints I sell now through Jessica Strobel Art. It’s not just pretty pictures it’s vibrant color, joy, nostalgia, playfulness. Things that bring me joy to create. That I put good vibes and energy into. It’s vintage NKOTB dolls on vacation. It’s backyard flowers in full bloom. It’s Barbie core on the beach in Costa Rica. It’s fun. And fun matters.
Buy the Art You Love (Yes, Even That One)
You should buy the art that makes you pause. The one that makes you say “wait, that’s weird and I LOVE IT.” The one that reminds you of being a kid. Or of your garden. Or your favorite beach trip.
You don’t need a reason. You don’t need it to “go with the room.”
You just need to love it. That’s enough. You don't need anyone else's permission.
And honestly? The stuff you love is usually what people end up talking about when they come over anyway. It’s the conversation-starter, the mood-booster, the daily dose of dopamine. (I need that dopamine boost! Anyone else????)
Winter Is Long (Especially in Minnesota)
You already know. Gray skies. Icy sidewalks. Six layers of fleece.
And that's exactly why I love bright, bold art even more during winter. I want my home to be a little louder, a little warmer, a little weirder. I want pinks and greens and sunshine even when it’s snowing sideways.
If you’re local to Minnesota, I probably created a bunch of these pieces during one of those long stretches of winter when I had to make something joyful just to feel alive. So yeah, there’s love in them. And maybe a little madness too.
These Prints Are Personal Because I Make Them Myself
Quick behind-the-scenes:
I shoot the photos. I edit them. I print them. I matte them. I package them up with my own two hands and usually a shitty reality tv show playing in the background. I'm a spicy neurodivergent and l like the formula of reality tv. It's comfort. There’s no warehouse or drop ship or mass production. I tried for 3 years to do it find a way to drop ship- and wasn't satisfied.
It’s just me, making something fun and real and sending it off to brighten someone’s home. That’s the magic of small business art.
You’re not just buying a print you’re supporting a mom, a photographer, a messy creative soul trying to bring more beauty into the world. And I freaking love you for it and me.
If You Love It, Hang It.
Seriously.
Life is too short for beige walls and boring art.
Hang the stuff that makes you happy.
That’s the whole point.
