…and why it matters more than you think
Wait, do I even like this?
If you’ve ever stood in a big-box store staring at a “Live, Laugh, Love” canvas wondering how you got there… this one’s for you.
We’re surrounded by so much generic stuff mass produced wall art that’s beige, bland, and kind of soulless. And listen, no judgment from me. I’ve been there too. I have bought from target and amazon many time. But the truth is: your walls deserve better and so do you. We all do.
You deserve art that feels personal. That makes you feel something. That maybe even makes you laugh. That’s where I come in.
Hi, I’m Jessica and I make bold art for real people
I’m a Minneapolis based photographer and creative behind Jessica Strobel Art. My work is joyful, vibrant, nostalgic, and full of color think:
-
Macro flower prints from my backyard
-
Vintage New Kids on the Block dolls in tropical vacation scenes
-
Barbie & Ken style couples channeling pop culture moments
-
Bright, fun photography that just makes you happy
No mass production here. Every fine art photo print is created, matted, and shipped by me, with love (and probably while wearing sweatpants and listening to NKOTB).
So how do you actually find art you love?
Great question. Here’s my take:
1. Start with what makes you feel something
Art doesn’t have to be fancy or “important.” If it makes you smile, if it brings back a memory, if it makes your kid point and laugh that’s the art you want.
2. Ignore trends. Trust your gut.
Just because everyone on Instagram is into beige on beige doesn’t mean you have to be. Color is powerful. So is weird. So is nostalgic. Like I always tell my kids. Love what you Love.
Let your home reflect who you are, not who Pinterest told you to be.
3. Support small artists (like me!)
Buying from independent artists means your art is handmade, unique, and deeply personal. It means someone (me) is doing a happy dance when you order. It’s connection not just a transaction.
Art is more than decoration. It’s energy.
I truly believe that. A bold pink flower on your wall? It’s not just pretty it’s a burst of energy. It a vibe. It's good energy coming your way cause I have great energy. Ask anyone that know me. LOL A silver Christmas tree with vintage dolls in front? That’s not just quirky it’s a little shrine to joy.
You don’t need to justify it. You just need to love it.
You get to choose joy
If you’ve been waiting for permission to buy that print you keep thinking about this is it.
Buy the art that feels like you. The piece that brings color to a gray winter. The one that makes you laugh. The one that your teenage self would freak out over. That’s the good stuff.
